National Day of Prayer May 7, 2026

National Day of Prayer 2026 – Hosted by Community Church of Ludington, 109 N. Harrison Street, Ludington at 12 noon in our sanctuary.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

For many years—decades, actually—we have gathered at the courthouse for the National Day of Prayer. We pray for our nation and our community, joining with different leaders from our area as they lead us in prayer for their spheres of influence.

This year, however, we feel led to do things a little differently. Rather than standing on the courthouse steps declaring and praying, we want to take a different posture of prayer. Following the scripture found in

2 Chronicles 7:14, we will seek to “humble ourselves and pray.”

Humility, prayer and repentance will be the theme for this year. This is the kind of prayer that will take us out of our comfort zone and bring us to our knees as we seek His face, rather than declaring His will in the public space. The result of this posture can be found in the last portion of this scripture, where God himself promises that He will hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land.

So this is a call to prayer and repentance—a posture of humility that beckons an answer from heaven. No entertainment, no flags or fanfare, just a people in humility, seeking the face of God.

Since this is a challenge to His people, we will be meeting at the community church.  Noon May 7th.

Worship on Sunday, April 26: What About Healing?

Worship the Lord with us on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 10 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “What About Healing?” Our scriptures include Psalm 16:7-11, Mark 2:1-7, John 5:1-13, and John 5:14-27.

Synopsis: Our two passages today involve healing. One shows a man with many friends and a great deal of faith in Jesus. The other passage shows a man alone and without any faith in Jesus. Both are healed. In one passage, it is clear the man wants to be healed, in the other, Jesus must ask. We’ll explore both these passages and see what God wants to teach us.

Worship on April 19, 2026: Do You Know Jesus?

Worship the Lord with us on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 10 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Do You Know Jesus?” Our scriptures include Isaiah 53:1-7, Luke 24:13-27, and Luke 24:28-35.

Synopsis: I remember studying this passage several years ago and one of the commentators asked the question, “Do you know Jesus?” He framed the question in the context of the disciples. They seemed to know a lot about Jesus but didn’t really know Him. This question led me to look at my faith in Jesus very differently. This also changed the way I teach and hopefully preach. Today we’ll look at what Jesus wanted the disciples to live out in their life and not just know.

Sunday, April 12: Faith in the Midst of Doubt

Worship the Lord with us on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 10 a.m. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Faith in the Midst of Doubt.” Our scriptures include Psalm 16:1-6, 1 Peter 1:3-9, and John 20:19-31.

Synopsis: It is Sunday evening and Jesus’ disciples are gathered in the upper room behind locked doors for fear of the Jews. They are scared; they’ve watched from a distance as Jesus was crucified and they know that it will only be a matter of time before they suffer a similar fate. Fear and uncertainty have gripped them. They are experiencing terrible grief over Jesus’ death and I’m sure all of them feel bad at how they left Jesus abandoned. Peter must have been feeling especially bad as he verbally denied knowing Jesus three times.

Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026 – Following Jesus: The Easiest and Hardest Thing in the World

Worship with us this Palm Sunday, March 29, at 10:00 am. Pastor Brett Spalding’s topic is “Following Jesus: The Easiest and Hardest Thing in the World.” Our scriptures include Zechariah 9:9-10, Psalm 118:19-26, and John 12:12-26.

Synopsis: Today we see Jesus make His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, accepting and embracing His identity as Messiah. Prior to this day Jesus wanted all this kept secret. In John 6:15, Jesus even withdrew from the people when they tried to crown Him King. While the disciples were still basking in the glow of the parade, imagining what exciting and powerful role they might have in the new kingdom, Jesus explains what is really going to bring about His kingdom and the role they are going to play in it. It is the same role Jesus desires for us to play as well.
