Sunday, November 16: A City (A Church) on a Hill

Join us in worshiping the Lord at 10:00 am on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Pastor Brett Spalding’s topic is “A City (A Church) on a Hill.” Our scriptures include Proverbs 29:12-18, 2 Corinthians 4:13-18, and Nehemiah 1:1-11.

This Sunday we will look at the prophet Nehemiah and news that he received about Jerusalem being in horrible shape. This brought Nehemiah to tears, because Nehemiah knew that Jerusalem was the home of God’s people. Jerusalem was intended to be a light in the darkness, a city on a hill. Jerusalem was the place where people journeyed to sacrifice to God for their sins. We’ll look at this story in the past and what that past can teach us now.

Worship on Sunday, November 2: Living in God’s Truth

Join us in worshiping the Lord at 10:00 am on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Pastor Brett Spalding’s sermon topic is “Living in God’s Truth.” Our scriptures include Matthew 10:40-42, 2 John 1:1-8, and 3 John (entire letter).

Synopsis: Both these letters tell us that God finds no greater joy than to find God’s children walking in the truth. To walk in the truth, we are called to have a lasting impact in the lives of others. As one commentator put it; “God designed us to desperately long to make a difference in the lives of others.”

So how do we do that; if love for Jesus Christ defines this longing then this longing can only be fulfilled by working together with Jesus through the Holy Spirit to awaken others hearts to the love of Jesus Christ.

Sunday, October 26: Forgiven and Thankful

Join us in worshiping the Lord at 10:00 am on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Pastor Brett Spalding’s topic is “Forgiven and Thankful,” with scriptures including Psalm 51:1-5 and verse 10, Luke 17:11-19, and Luke 7:36-50.

Jesus is invited to a dinner at the home of Simon the Pharisee. During the dinner a sinful woman walks in and anoints Jesus. Luke’s telling of this story includes thoughts of Jesus as Messiah, contrasts the woman’s loving, thankful actions with Simon’s failure to demonstrate ancient hospitality, and the thought of forgiveness and peace. There is much for us take from this passage and apply to our own lives and we will do that on Sunday.
