Worship the Lord with us on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Pastor Brett’s topic is “Hearing the Word of God.” Our scriptures include Mark 4:21-25, 1 Thessalonians 2:9-14, and Amos 8:11-14.
Synopsis: In our passage this Sunday, we hear God’s prophet, Amos, telling of a famine that will occur. This famine has nothing to do with food, but with God’s Word. This famine will be unusual because the famine will not be from a lack of God’s Word, but rather a famine of people hearing the Word of God. God warns in many places in scripture about false teachers and even preachers preaching to people’s itching ears, but this isn’t the famine prophesied by Amos. Amos is clearly talking about a famine that will exist with hearers of the Word of God. We will talk Sunday about what it means to truly hear the Word of the Lord.
